ARISE Sexual Assault Services provides free emergency services for individuals who experience sexual assault in and around Quay, De Baca, Roosevelt, Curry, Lea, Harding, and Union counties.

We operate a 24/7 crisis line as well as provide community education to prevent sexual assault. ARISE employs several licensed therapists to benefit the mental health of clients impacted by sexual assault. We employ three SANE nurses who perform sexual assault nurse exams at various satellite locations or at our main office in Portales, NM. Education/Prevention services are available either at our physical office or at the location of the requesting organization.

Home Preservation

Home Preservation is a program of Habitat for Humanity of Roosevelt &Curry Counties that helps low-income homeowners by offering minor home improvements. Volunteer teams work to improve the condition of homes by painting and performing minor repairs at minimal costs to the homeowners who would be unable to complete the repairs on their own. Able-bodied homeowners are encouraged to work alongside the volunteers in a cooperative effort. This program is for homeowners earning 50% or less of the median income for the county in which they live.

• Children in our Residential Care program live in a home-like cottage setting that accommodates up to eight children. Each cottage has married Christian couples who serve as house parents, caring for the children on a 24-hour basis. Life at NMBCH is not unlike life in a typical family.
• House parents are trained and committed to helping each child grow physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. This guidance and growth enables the child to meet personal goals and ultimately make significant lifestyle changes.
• Children attend Portales Public Schools and participate in athletics as well as other extracurricular activities through the schools. They are also involved in our 4H Club.

• Provides housing with a supportive community.

New Mother Homes

• Escape homelessness or family crisis and sleep safely at night.

• Develop a connection to Christ and to a church home.

Young Adult Homes

• Serves young adults ages 18-22 by providing shelter and spiritual guidance in a Christian environment.
• Designs structure to create self-supportive, community-minded, faith-based futures.
• Provides mentorship, counseling, and connection to additional social services.
• Creates life changing opportunities through professional guidance and donor-provided scholarships.

Meals on Wheels of Portales – is a warm meal and friendly smile – a safety check for a loved one.

We deliver nutritious meals and a personal connection – so important for Seniors in Portales.

Meals on Wheels of Portales delivers meals with a smile through four routes around Portales.

One call to Meals on Wheels of Portales - brings either temporary help or a longer-term solution for independent living if you or a loved one needs our help.

RCEC's scholarship program is generated by contributions or donations and interest from unclaimed capital credits.  Dependents of members are eligible to apply for these scholarships.  A scholarship committee meets each year in March to make selections and recipients are introduced during the Annual Meeting in April each year.  Scholarship applications are e-mailed to area high school counselors for distribution to senior students that are dependents of members of the cooperative.

Returning College Students can re-apply for a scholarship (amount to be determined according to available funds) on a yearly basis.  This application follows the graduating high school senior application.
Members can donate to the Roosevelt County Electric Education Foundation at any time.

Food Pantry and Clothing:

Our members maintain a pantry of grocery items in order to help others who are in need.  We keep staple items such as flour, sugar, cooking oil, etc. as well as canned vegetables, fruit and meats.  You can help in this ministry by bringing in food items to stock the shelves, or in filling the bags to have them ready and waiting for those who come to our building during the week asking for aid.  The pantry also exists for our own members who have difficulties from time to time and need assistance.  Please feel welcome to share your needs with us so we may give you the help you need.  The clothing room has an assortment of gently-used clothing in many sizes and for all seasons. Help is needed to sort, label, stack and hang up donated items to make them readily available for those in need. If you enjoy organization and layout, you may find a place to be useful in this ministry.
