Española Public Schools serves students in Española, Truchas, Chimayo, Santa Cruz, Sombrillo, Alcalde, Velarde, Dixon, Hernandez, and Abiquiu areas, as well as the Ohkay Owingeh and Santa Clara Pueblos. Currently there are 10 elementary schools, a kindergarten center, a middle school, and a high school. Note: The schools may not meet the full definition of a "100% community school" with a community school director and a school-based health center serving students and family members with medical, dental and mental health care. K-12 is offered. offers afterschool programs. McCurdy provides course offerings in all required subject areas with additional charter-required courses in the areas of Service Learning and Humanities. Students are encouraged to participate in service learning projects throughout the year. McCurdy has one of the largest athletic programs among charter schools in New Mexico with students participating in volleyball, football, basketball, baseball, softball and track & field. There are two child development centers (CDC) located at Cannon AFB
- Cannon CDC (335 West D. L. Ingram Ave, Cannon AFB)
- Chavez CDC (101 James Boatwright Avenue, Cannon AFB)
Cannon CDC Capacity- 158 children.
Chavez CDC Capacity- 168 children.
Both centers provide care for children 6 weeks until the start of kindergarten.
Both centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.The staff supports the development of the whole child and provides active, hand-on learning experiences to meet the individual needs of each child in the program. To encourage children’s growth and ensure activities are developmentally appropriate, staff observes all children on a regular basis and uses this assessment in planning related activities. Parents and staff work together to set goal for each child based on the strengths, progress and needs.
Each CDC uses “The Creative Curriculum.” The curriculum provides progressive developmental activities in the following areas: social, emotional, physical, cognitive and communication. The centers have also worked with local early intervention specialists who can provide one on one support for children who may have a learning delays or conditions affecting growth and learning.
Both CDC's are enrolled in the USDA food program and offer nutritious and appealing meals for breakfast, lunch and snacks. The cost for child care includes all meals, including baby food and some infant formulas.
